The autonomous district councils that operate in Meghalaya do not demonstrate transparency in the job recruitment process, the president of the Khasi Students Union (KSU), Lambokstar Marngar, said today.
Although the ADCs have been in existence for decades, even going back to before Meghalaya statehood, there have only been a few job advertisements over the years to fill vacancies, he claimed.
“We have never witnessed a transparent recruitment process for jobs within the district council. There have been no calls for applications or interviews conducted for these positions,” the pressure group leader said, adding a call for all candidates contesting in the upcoming council elections to address this issue and ensure that the ADCs are not simply a means to generate revenue or profit.
