Police in East Jaintia Hills arrested three persons in a drugs bust, it was informed today.
Based on credible intelligence, police set up roadchecks led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (Crime), B Bhattacharjee, and one Raju Dkhar (39), alias Precious, of Suchen Lumjarain, was detained with an accomplice, Lamphrang Kyndait (42), of Sabah Muswang, while they were travelling in a Maruti 800.
During the search of the vehicle, seven soap boxes filled with heroin were recovered, with the drugs weighing approximately 75g.
Dkhar revealed the name of Jop Siangshai (45), a resident of Lad Rymbai Datsympein, during interrogation as the main financier and intended recipient of the contraband. Police then apprehended Siangshai.
A case has been registered at Lumshnong police station and investigations are underway.
