The Public Works Department (Roads) inaugurated two new offices, the division office in Kharkutta and a sub-division building in Resubelpara today.
They were both formally opened by Deputy Speaker and Resubelpara MLA Timothy D Shira in the presence of Kharkutta MLA Rupert Momin and Bajengdoba MLA Pongseng Marak.
The need to improve the economic and social condition of the people necessitated the creation of the two new offices, an official press release stated. The basis of creating the Kharkutta division and Resubelpara sub-division in the district is based on the number of existing roads, the amount of workload and the need to deliver faster services to the public.
These two new offices, created through a government order on November 29, will reduce the burden of Resubelapra division.
Speaking as the chief guest, Shira said that the area has witnessed huge developmental road and transport projects.
He noted that all-round development will come only through better road connectivity as roads are the lifeline of all major developments, be it economical or social.
