Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma today distributed funds and livestock to promote sustainable livelihood at Rangatari Village in Rangsakona Block under South West Garo Hills District.
Funds amounting to Rs .93 lakhs under FOCUS+ were handed over to 793 producer households and 1600 piglets to 400 famers under the Rural Backyard Piggery Scheme as well as high yielding variety of Kuroiler poultry birds to 70 beneficiaries.
Sangma said the government aims to double farmer’s income by providing them more and more avenues of sustainable livelihoods. Self Help Groups got a quantum jump to 41700 in 2022 vis-a-vis 5814 in 2018, thus also empowering the lives of multiple rural women, he said.
