The Young Mizo Association, comprising the central body and several of its branches in Aizawl, have extended a humanitarian hand by delivering packaged drinking water to their neighbours in the flood devastated Cachar region, particularly in Silchar, Assam, which has been hit hard by recent flooding.
Silchar area is reportedly the most affected by the floods where the waters are yet to recede and besides everything else there is also an acute shortage of drinking water.
Locals have donated their vehicles to carry the precious cargo to the needy people reeling under the floods.
A total of 15,000 litres of bottled water will be delivered to the Deputy Commissioner of Cachar district by the YMA members.
