Along with the rest of the world, the State Council of Science, Technology & Environment, Meghalaya is celebrating the ‘World Earth Day’ under the theme: “Invest in Planet Earth” tomorrow.
As part of the celebration, a consultative workshop on the topic, “Forest based livelihood security and indigenous people right on Natural Resources in Meghalaya” is being organized in collaboration with Aaranyak, Assam at Multi-Convention Hall, NEHU from 10 am onwards.
The objective being to review and map potential ways for developing sustainable livelihood among forest fringe villages capitalizing on traditional knowledge and cultural ethos of the indigenous communities.
The Council is also organizing a street play on the same day at Don Bosco Square, Laitumkhrah and Police Bazaar at 4 pm and 5 pm respectively.
