The Seng Samla Hima Langrin (SSHL) today met the chairman of the Meghalaya Rural Bank with a demand to set up a branch in Wahkaji.
SSHL president, Pynshailang L. Nongdiang said the only branch located nearby is the Mawkyrwat branch which covers 44 numbers under the Hima Langrin. He said people require banking service as they have to travel for 50 kilometres to be able to deposit or withdraw money from the bank.
Nongdiang said the chairman assured that the demand would be taken up with the State Level Bankers Committee and the decision rests with the State government.
