There were two Covid-related fatalities recorded in Meghalaya today, while there were 51 new cases as well as 71 recoveries.
Both deaths were logged in West Jaiñtia Hills and both persons were unvaccinated, the Health Department informed.
East Khasi Hills recorded 37 new cases today and there were 14 between the other 10 districts. The seven-day rolling average of new cases thus dropped to 44, the lowest it has been since April 13.
East Khasi Hills accounted for 55 recoveries and there were 16 between the other 10 districts.
There are now 507 active Covid-19 cases in the state. East Khasi Hills alone accounts for 314 active cases, West Khasi Hills 100, West Jaiñtia Hills 36, Ri-Bhoi 26, West Garo Hills 10, East Garo Hills eight, South West Khasi Hills four, East Jaiñtia Hills three, South West Garo Hills two, North Garo Hills two and South Garo Hills two.
In all, Meghalaya has had 83,466 Covid-19 cases, of which 507 are active, 81,511 have recovered and 1,448 have died from the virus. The recovery rate is 97.66 percent. The fatality is 1.73 percent. The seven-day rolling average for new cases is 44.00 and for new deaths is 1.29.
