The War Jaintia unit of the Hynniewtrep Youths Council (HYC) has alleged that there have been illegal job appointments made in the office of the Amlarem Sub-Divisional Officer.
The HYC made the claim based on findings from a Right to Information (RTI) request.
On April 26 the office of the SDO published an advertisement for the temporary posts of lower divisional assistant and ‘process server’.
Tests and an interview for the LDA post was scheduled for May but was postponed to September on account of the Covid-19 pandemic. However, two people were appointed to the position at the end of May.
The HYC has served a seven-day deadline to the office of Amlarem SDO to remove the two people appointed since May 27 as well as any other appointments made without following procedure. Failing this, it also threatened to file a complaint with the Central Bureau of Investigation and Public Interest Litigation so that the guilty are punished as per the law.
