The Confederation of Ri Bhoi People (CoRP) today criticised the governments of Assam and Meghalaya for not doing much on the ground to resolve the border dispute in the State.
The organisation said that the decision to form regional committees made by the two chief ministers of both states, Conrad Sangma and Himanta Biswa Sarma have not seen the light of day and that both the state heads are busy flying to New Delhi.
“The government should not only hold meetings in their comfortable spaces just to show or misled the public but hold the meetings in areas like Umlaper, Ïongkhuli, and Langpih and speed up the process to resolve the boundary differences before the 50 years statehood of Meghalaya,” CoRP said.
Condemning the alleged assault of two villagers in Umlaper recently by Assam police, the organisation has urged residents of Block-II to unitedly stand together against any outside force.
Expressing gratitude to the district administration of Ri-Bhoi district, police and the Mawhati MDC Charles Marngar for their immediate intervention when the fight broke out the organisation said both the governments of Meghalaya and Assam should speed up the process of resolving the boundary differences at Umlaper, Ummat, Jatalong under Block-II.
