Shillong, Sep 2: St. Anthony’s College, Shillong today held its convocation ceremony with a grand celebration of academic brilliance and cultural splendour as it honours 145 rank holders and five Ph.D. awardees — the highest in its history.
Among the achievers, Md. Rezaul Islam of Political Science stood out for his all-round excellence and was announced as the student of the year.
A landmark highlight was the launch of the ‘Goodness Award – Where Values Meet Leadership’, instituted by the Department of Value Education. The first recipient, Elizabeth Hazel Lyndem, was honoured for her empathy, humility, and inclusive leadership as Student Coordinator. The award affirms the College’s conviction that education must foster both excellence and character.
The College also released its two flagship publications — the annual magazine ‘Mosaic’ and the newsletter, ‘The Anthonian Chronicles’ — showcasing the vibrant academic, cultural, and co-curricular life of the institution.
Departments that secured the highest ranks in the NEHU examinations included Commerce, Economics, Education, Mass Communication and Video Production and Media Technologies, Fishery Science, Chemistry, Geology, and Statistics.
With its blend of cultural grandeur, record academic success, and a renewed emphasis on values, this year’s convocation reaffirmed St. Anthony’s College’s legacy of shaping not only scholars and professionals but also compassionate leaders grounded in service and excellence.
