Eighty households under West Shillong constituency were provided with sewing machines by their MLA, Mohendro Rapsang today.
Rapsang said this was to empower and make women self-reliant so that they can earn their livelihood. He said the women beneficiaries were selected based on their skills and financial status.
Till date, Rapsang said, he had distributed almost 350 sewing machines to those households who are in need. Rs 5000 will also be given to these households for them to increase their earnings, he added.
