Shillong, Sep 19: Union Minister of State for External Affairs Pabitra Margherita handed over appointment letters to 127 candidates from Meghalaya who will join Income Tax, Railways, India Post and other central departments at the Rozgar Mela held here today.
The Rozgar Mela was held across 45 locations nationwide. The event, addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi via videoconferencing, saw the distribution of over 51,000 appointment letters to newly inducted youth in various Ministries and Departments. With this, total recruitment through Rozgar Melas has crossed 12.75 lakh.
Margherita congratulated the appointees and said the letters mark not just a job, but a journey of service and nation-building, adding that improved connectivity and infrastructure in the Northeast is enabling youth to build their future within the region.
PM Modi urged the new recruits to work with the principle of ‘Nagrik Devo Bhava’ and to keep citizens at the centre of governance. He highlighted transparent recruitment in regional languages, Mission Karmayogi — with over 1.72 crore users — and India’s growing startup ecosystem in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities.
The Shillong programme was organised by the Office of the Chief Commissioner of Income Tax and attended by senior Income Tax officials.
