Foundation stones for eight road projects pegged at Rs 23 crore in South West Khasi Hills district were today unveiled by cabinet minister, Renikton Lyngdoh Tongkhar at a function held in the office premises of the Executive Engineer, PWD (Roads) Division Mawkyrwat.
The projects includes construction of roads from Nongdiat to Nongsynrieh at 1.6 Km, 2.3 km Kremsaitsnier to Pyndenmawramhah, internal road at Nongsynrieh, Mawlangwir to Mawmerang road under RIDF–XXVI, construction and metalling black topping of missing link from Shadmoit to Sohma, road from Pyndendiwah village to Laitnongrim including a 12 meter bridge, improvement, metalling blacktopping of Umjarain-Lawblei road, improvement including metalling black topping of approach road to Mawlangwir village, resurfacing of Mawthawpdah–Phlangdiloin road and Laitmawsiang-Mawthawpdah-Phlangdiloin road.
Speaking on the occasion, Tongkhar informed that four of the schemes are under Mawsaw PWD Division and the rest under Mawkyrwat PWD Division. He also informed that there are 14 more schemes that will be sanctioned and implemented soon.
The intermediate road from Lad Mawreng to Weiloi Phase 1 has been sanctioned and called for tender has begun, he added.
PWD (Roads), Mawkyrwat Division, Executive Engineer, David M Pyngrope and officers of the department were present at the unveiling function.
