The ICAR – Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ri-Bhoi, organised a ‘Capacity building programme on Natural Farming of Agri-Horti Crops’ under the project ‘Out Scaling of Natural Farming Through KVKs’.
The two-day programme was inaugurated by VK Mishra, Director, ICAR NEH, Umiam on December 19.
In his inaugural speech, the director emphasised on restoration of soil health, maintaining soil fertility and amelioration by following natural farming practices to grow crops. During the programme, various aspects and principles of natural farming were elaborated on by M Islam, Head of KVK; U Barua, SMS Horticulture; Meghna Sarma, SMS Agronomy; TR Bora, Senior Scientist DCS; P Dutta, Associate Professor; and D. Thakuriya, Professor CPGSAS, Umiam.
Besides practical demonstration at the KVK instructional farm, 51 farmers participated and gained knowledge in the production and application of different bio-formulations in the bio-pesticide laboratory at CPGSAS-CAU, Umiam.
