Two individuals were sentenced to life imprisonment over a murder committed in 2014.
In May 2014 one Prodic Nangbah of Mynkrem village was brutally murdered and three individuals were subsequently arrested and prosecuted over the crime.
The three were Chalbinal Nangbah, Salbinal Nangbah and Belting Tyngkra.
After a decade-long pursuit for justice, the Court of the District and Sessions Judge in West Jaintia Hills yesterday convicted Salbinal and Tyngkra for culpable homicide amounting to murder and sentenced them to rigorous imprisonment for life and a fine of Rs 5,000 each.
Chalbinal died in April 2017, well before justice could be delivered.
The court also ordered compensation of Rs 3 lakh to the family of the deceased victim.
