In a swift and intelligence-based operation, the Border Security Force (BSF) Meghalaya foiled an attempt to smuggle contraband goods near the Indo-Bangladesh international border.
Acting on specific tip-offs, alert troops of the 4th Battalion BSF detected suspicious movements during routine vigilance in East Khasi Hills and West Jaintia Hills near the international border. Promptly launching search operations, BSF personnel intercepted a vehicle that was carrying a large quantity of contraband items worth more than Rs 37 lakh and apprehended two persons. The apprehended persons could not produce any valid documents.
The individuals and the seized goods were handed over to the concerned police authorities for further investigation and legal proceedings.
