Another 14 Covid-related deaths were recorded in Meghalaya today, the highest single-day figure since June 9.
There were also 513 new cases (the third straight day of cases of at least 500) and 375 recoveries.
The seven-day rolling average of infections has gone back up to 470.57, the highest it has been since June 20. This average has risen 17 percent over the last four days, sending the Covid curve shooting upwards and reversing the gains made in the fight against the virus over the past month. Forty-three fatalities have also been recorded in the last four days (and exactly 150 this month), sending the seven-day rolling average to 8.86, the highest it has been since June 16.
Eleven fatalities were recorded in East Khasi Hills, as well as one each in West Khasi Hills, South West Khasi Hills and West Jaintia Hills.
East Khasi Hills recorded 184 new cases today, West Garo Hills 105, Ri-Bhoi 70, West Jaiñtia Hills 35, South West Khasi Hills 28, West Khasi Hills 27, North Garo Hills 25, South West Garo Hills 15, East Garo Hills 12, East Jaiñtia Hills six and South Garo Hills six.
East Khasi Hills reported 107 recoveries, Ri-Bhoi 59, West Jaiñtia Hills 59, West Garo Hills 23, South West Garo Hills 13, East Garo Hills 12, South West Khasi Hills 11, West Khasi Hills 10, East Jaiñtia Hills eight, South Garo Hills three and North Garo Hills two.
There are now 4,413 active Covid-19 cases in the state. East Khasi Hills alone accounts for 1,361 active cases, West Garo Hills 1,087, Ri-Bhoi 598, West Jaiñtia Hills 353, South West Khasi Hills 246, West Khasi Hills 194, North Garo Hills 163, East Garo Hills 133, South West Garo Hills 105, South Garo Hills 105 and East Jaiñtia Hills 68.
In all, Meghalaya has had 59,346 Covid-19 cases, of which 4,413 are active, 53,945 have recovered and 988 have died from the virus. The recovery rate has declined to 90.90 percent. The fatality rate stayed level at 1.66 percent. The seven-day rolling average for new cases jumped to 470.57 and has increased for new deaths to 8.86.
