Bengaluru/Shillong, Apr 30: A 34-year-old woman from Meghalaya has been found dead in her residence in Bengaluru, police said on Thursday.
Police suspect that the victim died by suicide on Thursday night at her rented room in Hebbal, Bengaluru.
They said she was in a live-in relationship with a 28-year-old man from Manipur for the past three years.
While she worked in an office, her friend was a security guard.
“It appears to be a case of suicide. She was found hanging from the ceiling. The woman and her friend often had a brawl,” a police officer said.
Meanwhile, the Khasi Students’ Union Bengaluru unit has expressed its sorrow over the tragic passing of the woman.
The union said she hails from Tangmang village, Pynursla. On the day of the incident, members of the KSU Bengaluru unit were present alongside her friends, to extend their emotional and moral support during this challenging time.
The circumstances surrounding her death are currently under investigation. Authorities are looking into the possibilities of her demise being a case of suicide or a potential murder, although other scenarios are being considered as well, the KSU said in a statement.
The union has called upon local authorities to carry out a comprehensive and impartial investigation into the matter.
