Shillong, Nov 2: Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Wailadmiki Shylla chaired a review meeting of his department and the SYA directorate on October 30 as the state prepares to host the 39th National Games 2027.
The SYA Department has become a major one under Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, Shylla maintained, while Commissioner and Secretary Vijay Kumar D said that the department’s budget has been significantly enhanced in recent years.
District Sports Officers from all 12 districts presented the work done on the ground and raised their concerns, including on gaps in sports infrastructure and other problems they face.
With the National Games 2027 drawing closer, the minister called on everyone to work together. “We have always worked as one family and that is how we will deliver the National Games too,” he said.
