Shillong, Nov 2: Paul Lyngdoh, who recently switched to the National People’s Party (NPP) from the United Democratic Party (UDP), will be sworn in as a Cabinet Minister on Monday.
The oath-taking ceremony is scheduled at 5 pm at Lok Bhavan. The development comes two days after UDP president Metbah Lyngdoh resigned from the Cabinet, following the crossover of Paul Lyngdoh and fellow UDP legislators Renikton Lyngdoh Tongkhar and Nujorki Sungoh to the ruling NPP on October 19.
Paul Lyngdoh had earlier served as Tourism Minister in the Conrad Sangma Cabinet but was dropped in September 2025 in a reshuffle.
Meanwhile, the eight former UDP legislators who merged with the BJP on September 23 have not figured in the induction list. A senior NPP leader said the Chief Minister is sticking to the original coalition agreement made during the formation of the MDA-II government in 2023. The BJP has two representatives in the Cabinet — Sanbor Shullai and Lahkmen Rymbui.
