Villagers of Moolamoh in East Jaiñtia Hills district are upset and dismayed at their waheh shnong, Dras Siangshai stating that he had approved over 200 non-locals to avail Aadhaar.
According to the villagers, Siangshai had given his consent for Aadhaar enrolment to non-locals without any valid documents. They alleged that he had also included their names in the house number without the consent of house owners.
Stating that such acts by Siangshai will put the residents and the State at great risk from influx, , the residents said that the waheh shnongs approved many non-locals from Sookilo, Ladrymbai, Umshong, Moolamanoh and other villages and misused the seal of the dorbar Shnong without the consent of the Executive Committee or district authorities.
They also alleged that the waheh shnongs charges Rs 1000 to Rs 2000 per person availing Aadhaar.
The residents have demanded the Deputy Commissioner to take the matter seriously and asked Emarson Dkhar, who is the enrollment operator to clarify publicly before the residents of Moolamanoh and specify the number of Aadhaar cards issued to non-locals this year.
