A video of NPP MLA Gigur Myrthong has gone viral in which he is allegedly heard threatening voters in a village of depriving them help in future if they are not in the “list”.
The clip was from a meeting held in Mynniar village under Mawshynrut constituency in West Khasi Hills district on Tuesday.
In the video clip which was widely shared today, Myrthong was heard saying“…in the entire village… How many are with me? Because in future if you come and seek help, I will check from the list… And let me be clear on this, that if you are not there you will not get benefits…We can help from the government scheme too…”
Highland Post called to seek his clarification on the alleged threat. Myrthong spoke about hard work and said, “Whoever works hard get benefits in life…Who will help you when you don’t put in your hard work?…If we are in any team we should work hard for the benefit of the area…And if one wants to earn profit without hard work, who will give?”
