An under-trial prisoner, who was being taken for medical examination in Nongpoh Civil Hospital, managed to escape from police custody.
The fugitive, Rajit Khongngian ran away while proceeding towards the doctor’s chamber, sources said. He was accompanied by two armed personnel and a staff member from the district jail.
A joint team comprising members from the Police Reserve and Nongpoh Police Station has been deployed to locate the fugitive. Authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity or information that could aid in the capture of Khongngian.
