Chinmoyee Rajkhowa, a student from the Department of Social Work at the University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM), has been selected to represent India in the BRICS Sports Games 2024.
The event will be held from June 19 to 25 in Kazan, Russia.
Rajkhowa was chosen by the All India Traditional Wrestling and Pankration Federation during a selection process in New Delhi from May 5 to 7. She will compete in the Belt Wrestling women’s 64 kg category.
Expressing her excitement, Rajkhowa, who is pursuing a Master’s in Social Work, said, “I’m thrilled to join the World BRICS Games. It’s a dream come true, and I appreciate everyone’s love and support.”
Although this will be her eighth international event, she is preparing diligently. “I am putting my heart and soul into this. I’ve trained in judo under a Japanese grand master and have been focused on belt wrestling for years. Recently, I trained in Tripura specifically for this event,” she shared.
Rajkhowa will attend a training camp in Dehradun from June 13 to 18.
