Union Minister of State in charge of Rural Development and Steel, Faggan Singh Kulaste, visited Ri-Bhoi yesterday and chaired a review meeting here on the aspirational district programme (ADP).
Ri-Bhoi is one of more than 100 so-called aspirational districts, which are receiving special attention from the central government in order to improve various indicators.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy Commissioner Arpit Upadhaya and district officials from line departments to review developmental works undertaken in R-Bhoi and also to conduct inspections of some developmental activities in the Byrnihat area.
Kulaste was given a briefing on the progress of work in the areas of health and nutrition, education, agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry and veterinary, rural development and infrastructure.
The Union MoS then held a short meeting with local representatives and then inspected Byrnihat Primary Health Centre, Anganwadi centre and Moonlight Secondary School, Byrnihat. He ended his visit with an interactive programme with the self-help groups (SHGs) and village leaders at Byrnihat Community Hall.
