During the peace rally, local residents, who are members of the Khasi, Karbi, Garo and Rabha tribes, expressed their disappointment on the recent visits of the members of the two regional committees on border settlement, especially on the part of Meghalaya representatives who, they said, did not dare back the interests of the people of Meghalaya.
The rally was also supported by the Garo Student Union and All Ri-Bhoi Garo Women Association.
They also demanded that the Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma must personally visit and inspect these border villages for himself to understand the ground realities and the desires of the local people.
