A video has gone viral on social media of a traffic cop allegedly taking bribe from a scooter pillion rider caught without wearing a helmet.
Going by the video, the incident unfolded just opposite the PWD – North Division, close to the Maternity and Child Hospital in Tura.
In the video, the pillion rider reaches into his wallet and gives the cop notes behind a makeshift wall of CGI out of the view of other vehicle owners or passersby.
West Garo Hills police in a social media post said, it is an embarrassment for them and that the traffic cop has been identified and departmental action has been initiated.
“Tura Traffic Branch has been working really hard round the clock to regulate the traffic in Tura town properly. We will continue to do the same to the best of our capabilities. Let’s not undermine the painstaking efforts being made by every member of the force to keep you safe,” the district police said.
