A six-wheeler truck loaded with stolen items was recovered near 4th Furlong, Polo here last evening, police said today.
Police said a local taxi bearing registration number ML05K-7554 was seized in connection with the case.
East Khasi Hill Superintendent of Police, Sylvester Nongtnger said the driver of the truck has been arrested while a hunt is on to nab the driver of a local taxi.
He said the truck bearing registration number AS 01 CC-3985 was found loaded with scrap metal which include 10 units of beam web assembly and 32 units shuttering jack.
Meanwhile, East Khasi Hills police recovered a vehicle from Imphal, Manipur.
Nongtnger ina statement said a complaint was lodged against one Mohammad Fareed of Barapathar Mawbah, Shillong wherein he allegedly coerced the complainant into becoming a guarantor for the purchase of a Maruti Suzuki Eeco 5 STR, without disclosing that the vehicle would be registered in the complainant’s name, thereby, making him liable for the EMI payments.
“Following a thorough and relentless investigation, the vehicle was successfully traced and safely transported back to Shillong,” he said.
