The Faculty Development Programme (FDP) for student skilling in the Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance (BFSI) sector concluded in Shillong College today.
Organised by the Directorate of Higher & Technical Education, State Higher Education Council and the National Stock Exchange the training programme aims to equip faculty members of higher education institutions in the state with the necessary knowledge and tools to impart skills to students in the BFSI domain.
The 20-hour training programme of faculty of different colleges and universities was attended by 42 faculty members.
It is hoped that the knowledge and skills imparted in the training will create ripples of positive change, contributing to the progress of the BFSI sector, employability of the youth of the state and employability also being one of the goals of NEP 2020.
Education Minister Rakkam A. Sangma gave away the certificates to all participants.
In his address, he appealed to colleges and universities to re-visit their curriculum in order to create an educational ecosystem which will attract students from outside the state and that students from the state will not migrate to other states or outside the country to pursue higher education.
He stressed on the importance of equipping faculty and students with skills required to excel in the BFSI sector, which plays a pivotal role in our nation’s economic growth.
