The College of Community Science conducted a five-day training programme on scientific vegetable cultivation practices and nursery management in Tura, which concluded today.
Various lectures were delivered, such as those on nursery management, seed production, seed treatment, nutrient management, pest and disease management, post-harvest management and value addition, marketing and packaging, economics of vegetable cultivation and demonstrations of biofertiliser production during the training programme.
Vegetable seeds from ICAR-Indian Institute of Vegetable Research, Varanasi and ICAR-Directorate of Onion and Garlic Research, Pune were distributed to the farmers. The programme was organised under the chairmanship of Jyoti V Vastrad, Dean of the College of Community Science and the organiser was Priyadarshani P Mohapatra, assistant professor at the multitechnology testing centre and vocational training centre.
This training programme aimed to improve the productivity of vegetables in Garo hills through the modern techniques in vegetable cultivation.
