In view of President Droupadi Murmu’s visit, vehicular movement will be stopped at several junctions on January 16.
Vehicular traffic will be halted for 30 minutes prior to the arrival of the President at all traffic junctions. However, Emergency Service vehicles will be allowed to ply and facilitated.
East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police Sylvester Nongtnger said as the President will visit the Mawphlang Sacred Grove, there will be certain inconveniences due to staggering of vehicles in various places of the city and on the route taken by the VVIP.
The public have been urged to avoid travelling towards Mawngap and in and around Shillong unless necessary, he said.
