All lower and upper primary schools in South West Khasi Hills district will remain closed from May 1 until further orders.
In an order issued today, South West Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner, Caramai Kharkongor said it was necessitated due to surge in Covid-19 positive cases across the State and the district in particular and to prevent further spread of the virus.
The DC also said that secondary schools shall remain open with half-capacity of the class room while all board examinations will continue.
Further, all official and non-official training classes, public awareness campaigns, meetings and other public gatherings/congregations are suspended from May 1.
Attendance in funeral is also restricted to only 20 people.
