The Survey of India, the national mapping agency, held an exhibition on surveying and mapping at its office in Malki today.
Although National Science Day is celebrated on February 28, this year the event was pushed by a day here due to the Assembly election on Monday.
The theme of this year’s Science Day was ‘Global Science for Global Wellbeing’.
Modern surveying instruments like drones, a 360-degree camera, ‘Total-Station, GPS’, ‘digital level’ and different types of maps were demonstrated at the exhibition.
Utilization of drone data for the SVAMITVA (Survey of Village Abadi and Mapping with Improvised Technology in Village Areas) project, activities related to map making, like computer aided cartography, importance of maps in our day-to-day life were displayed in the exhibition.
The map sale corner displayed various thematic maps and was an attraction for visitors.
Students from Loreto Convent, Bengali Girls HS School, St Anthony’s College, St Edmund’s College, officials from NECTAR and the general public participated in the event.
