Strong winds and heavy rain destroyed four houses in Mawpud village of South West Khasi Hills district.
The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) said that the roof tops were blown away, but no casualties have been reported.
The displaced families have been sheltered by other families while waiting for the rehabilitation of the damaged houses.
Meghalaya along with Sikkim, Assam are witnessing heavy rainfall in the last couple of days, according to Indian Meteorological Department (IMD). The intensity and spread of heavy weather will reduce after 24hours as improved weather conditions can be expected after October 8, it said.
Today, Sohra recorded 17 cm of rainfall, Mawkyrwat 14 cm, Shella 12 cm, Pynursla 11 cm, Mawphlang 10 cm, Williamnagar 9 cm, and Baghmara 8 cm.
