Meghalaya will be terribly disappointed if Union Home Minister Amit Shah does not say something significant on the issue of the Inner Line Permit (ILP), opposition MLA Ampareen Lyngdoh told Highland Post today.
Shah is set to visit the state at the weekend and ILP is high on the agenda of the state government and pressure groups but it is unsure whether the Union minister will say anything on the subject.
“This matter has been kept pending for too long and the people’s expectations are very high and it will be a big disappointment if Shah does not say anything on ILP this time,” the East Shillong legislator said.
Meanwhile, speaking on the interstate dispute with Assam, Lyngdoh expressed happiness if the state government keeps its promise and solves the long-pending dispute with the neighbouring state.
Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma is set to hold talks with his opposite number tomorrow.
“I wish them (the government) the best to solve this long-lasting problem with Assam and I wish to see this problem sorted out once and for all but it remains to be seen if it will really happen,” she added.
