The Seng Khasi Kmie, Shillong, today announced that it will hold the ‘Na Thymmei Festival’ on October 26 and 27 at Jaiaw.
The festival aims to promote culture and tourism and strengthen the relationship between the Khasi people.
D Suiam, the publicity secretary of the Seng Khasi Kmie, stated during a media briefing today that the festival will feature traditional dances, explanations of Khasi culture by scholars and a traditional costume competition called ‘Ka Lukhimai bad u Nai Khad Saw Synnia’.
This is the third time the festival will be held, and the organisers plan to include traditional games and more.
The festival has received attention not only within the state but also from abroad and there are invitations extended to the entire Northeast to attend the festival.
