Overloading of vehicles has been prohibited in East Jaiñtia Hills district as per Section 144 CrPC imposed by the district magistrate today.
“The order was necessitated following reports of trucks and pick up vehicles transporting stones and boulders exceeding the height of the vehicle’s body which poses serious danger to life and property, and because the road condition of NH 06 between Tuber Shohshrieh and Ratacherra has worsened even further leading to frequent breakdown of vehicles,” the DM said.
He said overloading of vehicles with the transportation have to be strictly in accordance with the authorized capacity of the concerned vehicle.
Transportation of stones or boulders by any vehicle should not exceed the height of the vehicle’s body and transporters have to ensure that no stone or boulder falls down from the vehicle during transportation, the order said.
