To mark the celebration of International Year of Millets 2023, Health Quotient (HQ) Inspired organised a one-day programme at Dinet Manik Syiem Memorial Higher Secondary School yesterday.
The International Year of Millets is meant to create domestic and global demand and to provide nutritional food to the people through millet, a nutritious and hardy crop that is environmentally friendly to grow but has been largely forgotten in favour of wheat.
An interactive session with the children gave them hands-on experience on how the real world works. Invitees from the Dorbar Shnong and past pupils attended the event, among others.
HQ Inspired is a “niche artisan bakery/catering brand that focuses on healthier gastronomic alternatives with special attention to millet products with the infusion of tasty, visually appealing and healthy elements in everything creating for children’s eating pleasure and well-being” a press release said today.
Speaking to reporters, Bibhudutta Sahu, co-founder of HQ Inspired, emphasised the need to introduce healthy snacking across educational institutions in Meghalaya while sourcing their products locally from farmers.
On the sidelines of the event, Principal Drimsibon Kharkongor was glad to celebrate the platform of edutainment with multiple forms of engagement for students and parents alike.
“I will try to speak to parents on how this product can be a good alternative for children as they have moved away from quality eating,” Kharkongor said.
