The Department of Zoology at Sankardev College in collaboration with the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department organised a one day national seminar on the theme ‘Zoonoses and One Health’ yesterday.
The inaugural speech was delivered by Prof M Kharbyngar, Head of the department, which was followed by the welcome address from Reena Singh, Vice-Principal of the college.
The inaugural address and keynote lecture were delivered by the Joint Director of the AH&V Department PR Joshi. The resource persons for the seminar included Phidasharai Kharmawlong, who spoke on the topic ‘Rabies in Animals: Its Zoonotic Implications’.
This was followed by a presentation from Hosterson Kylla, who deliberated on ‘One Health: Controlling Zoonotic Diseases’ and Samrat Sengupta, who delivered a presentation on the topic ‘Human-Wildlife Interaction which is changing the Dynamics of Zoonotic Diseases Outbreaks’.
