The Border Security Force (BSF), in the last fortnight seized narcotics and other smuggled items worth Rs 2,13,40,666 while apprehending two Indian and nine Bangladeshi nationals involved in various border-related crimes.
According to the BSF it is noteworthy that 143 cattle supposed to be smuggled across into Bangladesh were seized and other contraband items were also confiscated.
The BSP release also stated that these efforts were bolstered by close collaboration with state and central agencies in joint operations aimed at maintaining peace and preventing illegal activities in the region.
In addition to ensuring the safety and security of the border, BSF troops have been actively involved in various initiatives to support the local population.
The BSF has been involved in timely evacuation of border residents for medical treatment, organization of blood donation camps and civic action programmes, which included free medical camps, skill development training and sports tournaments and cultural activities.
Meanwhile, the BSP also stated that its troops have been actively participating in bilateral meetings with Bangladesh to address cross-border issues and enhance coordination with the border guarding forces of Bangladesh.
