The drums have come alive with the arrival of Durga Puja and the Rilbong Durga Puja Committee has been named the winner of the individual and group categories of the Central Puja Committee’s (CPC) Late SK Agarwal Memorial Drum Beat Competition, which was held today.
Second place in both categories was claimed by RR Colony Saradiya Utsav Samiti and third place in both categories was awarded to Kenches Trace Durga Puja Committee. The Survey of India Estate Durga Puja Committee took home fourth place in the individual category.
The Audit Estate Durga Puja Committee in Motinagar was awarded special prizes for fielding the only women drum beater group. Three other participating troupes were given consolation prizes for their efforts.
The trophy, sponsored by Ajay Agarwal in honour of his departed father, will be presented to the winning group champions at the CPC valedictory function to be held after Chhath Pu
ja.
