Ri-Bhoi launched its special summary revision of photo electoral rolls at the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Nongpoh today.
The programme was attended by the DC, RM Kurbah, other officials and three district youth icons – MMA fighter Anthony Syiem, singer-songwriter Kyntiewlin Mawphniang and blind football player who has represented the state team Iaishan Dkhar; the three were also felicitated on the occasion.
The DC in her speech said that the voter ID (EPIC) is one of the important documents for the people as it is undeniable proof that a person is a genuine citizen of the country. Kurbah also informed that the main aim of the special summary revision is to ensure that all genuine citizens are not left behind and, particularly, that new voters who will attain the age of 18 as on January 1, 2022 are enrolled.
The programme also includes with handing over draft photo electoral rolls to the five Assembly constituencies in the district – Mawhati, Nongpoh, Jirang, Umsning and Umroi to the representatives of political parties.
