As per the revised guidelines of the awareness campaigns on use of natural clay and biodegradable materials for manufactures and immersion of idols within Ri Bhoi District Deputy Commissioner has reminded stakeholders to effectively implement the revised guideline as issued by the Meghalaya State Pollution Control Board (SPCBs) in order to prevent from any disruption of water bodies.
These guidelines include ensuring use of natural clay and biodegradable materials for manufacture of idols by using natural dyes or decorations.
Pop base idols are not allowed for immersion in water bodies and such idols should be immersed only in temporary ponds at designated places or as arranged by the urban local bodies, who are also instructed to create temporary pond for immersion of idols or may use a bucket of water in case of individual houses.
