Congress leader Ronnie V Lyngdoh has said that Meghalaya has been taken advantage of by Assam and that all the regional parties are in the BJP’s North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) just to please Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Referring to an idiom, ‘Give an inch and they’ll take a mile’ Lyngdoh said, “They claimed that they have resolved the border issue but our people are getting shot in our own land. Can you claim that you have resolved the border issue?”
Lyngdoh stated that Sarma is a “boss” of NEDA. “Now there are these (regional parties) people who bow before the boss and they have not joined NEDA for development, but to please the CM of Assam and whatever he does now they don’t dare to say a word,” he claimed.
Lyngdoh said he appreciates the elders including women folk and the youth who 50 years back demanded statehood when Assam tried to impose Assamese as the official language here.
