Chairperson of the Meghalaya Assembly’s committee on empowerment of women, Ampareen Lyngdoh today said there has been an improvement in quality of investigation, capacity-building of police officers in crimes related to women.
Lyngdoh said per the last report that the committee had submitted to the State government and the Assembly Speaker, police stations have become friendlier in attending to the issues related to violation of women’s rights, sexual abuse, domestic violence and others.
She informed that the committee had held a final review with all the deputy commissioners and superintendent of police on the findings of various issues related to women during their visits to various parts of the state.
Lyngdoh said that issues ranges from sensitivity of police station to women, drug rehabilitation facilities for women and others.
