The Ri Bhoi Youth Federation (RBYF), Mawhati circle has expressed concern over the miserable condition of the Umsohlait Police Station.
The police station situated along the inter-state border was created in 2017 and till date has been functioning from a building that belonged to the Village Employment Council.
RBYF circle President Reynald Dkhar said since the police have a huge responsibility on their shoulders, the place of work should be conducive for cops to function effectively.
He slammed the State government and its Home Department for showing a step-motherly attitude towards the police station and said that the organisation would launch an agitation.
Dkhar further said that the demand for a new building including staff quarters was made with the Deputy Commissioner, but there has been no response.
“Umsohlait Police Station is one of the most important police station located along the border areas of Ri Bhoi district and therefore the government must ensure that it functions with full strength and bring about essential changes in the current situation,” he said.
