Shillong, Nov 3: A delegation of leaders of the Dorbar Shnong Umshaken, Synjuk Ki Rangbah Shnong Raid Mathan, and civil societies submitted a memorandum to Health Minister Wailadmiki Shylla, urging the state government to upgrade the Umshaken Health and Wellness Centre to a Public Health Centre (PHC).
The memorandum highlighted the growing healthcare needs of the local population in Raid Mathan, Ri Bhoi District, stating that the current infrastructure and staffing of the Health and Wellness Centre are inadequate to meet the demands of the people.
The proposal for upgradation was initially processed in 2014, but no concrete follow-up or sanction has been made since then. The dorbar shnong has appealed for immediate intervention to re-examine and expedite the proposal, sanction necessary funds, and ensure adequate staffing.
The upgradation of the health centre is expected to provide timely and quality healthcare services to thousands of people, aligning with the state government’s vision of improving healthcare delivery in rural areas. The memorandum emphasizes the need for urgent action to address the healthcare needs of the local population.
