A cultural extravaganza was organised at Raj Bhavan, Shillong, yesterday to celebrate the 75th Foundation Day of Rajasthan.
The event was presided over by the Chief Secretary of Rajasthan, Sudhansh Pant.
In his address, Pant highlighted the historical genesis of Rajasthan and drew focus on its rich cultural heritage and rapid economic growth. Informing that Rajasthan has the highest installed solar generation capacity, he said that the state leads India’s renewable energy bandwagon and it is also among the top five states in India in terms of installed wind generation capacity.
Rajasthan also ranks fifth in the country in terms of mine and mineral resources generation and seventh in terms of GDP growth, he added.
Acknowledging the significance of the ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ initiative of the central government, Pant said that initiatives such as this will go a long way in strengthening connections and fostering mutual understanding among people from various states and Union territories.
On this occasion, a message by the Governor of Rajasthan, Kalraj Mishra, and the Foundation Day video on Rajasthan was screened followed by a presentation of folk music and dances by the performers from Rajasthan, Assam and Meghalaya.
The programme was organised by Raj Bhavan, Shillong, in collaboration with the Department of Arts and Culture and the Indian Council for Cultural Relations Shillong.
