The rain lasted for an hour affected vehicular movement and shopkeepers were seen unclogging drains.
The Jowai garbage woes issue is now left to be settled by the High Court after a PIL was filed by Synjuk Ki Waheh Shnong Jowai.
Last month, the Meghalaya High Court has directed the State government to convene a meeting of both the Jowai Municipal Board and the headmen of the localities in Jowai town to resolve the issue related to garbage collection.
While the Jowai Municipal Board claims massive garbage collection from different areas of the town the synjuk disagreed stating there is hardly any collection of garbage.
